Staying At Ruby Molly Hotel In Dublin
Below I’m going to share my experience staying at Ruby Molly in Dublin, Ireland.

Location
Ruby Molly is one of Dublin’s boutique hotels located in the city centre district. The location is great because it’s only a few short blocks to River Liffey – the river that separates the city and it’s close to walk to most of Dublin’s famous landmarks.
That being said, the area did feel like it’s up and coming and is slowly being cleaned up. I wouldn’t venture out alone at night.
Check-In: Ruby Molly Dublin
The check-in process at Ruby Molly was really streamlined and simple. One thing that they offered that I have never seen done before is that you could waive your housekeeping to get a drink voucher for the lobby bar. I was only staying a couple nights so housekeeping wasn’t necessary so I thought why not and opted for the drink voucher. I’m so happy I did because the drink I ordered for happy hour later that day was delicious!

The Lobby & Bar
The lobby and bar are great and exactly what I come to expect in boutique hotels. The space is huge and definitely has a vibe to it. I’d describe it as ‘upscale antique’.

There are lots of different sections – some sections have dining tables, some make you feel like you’re sitting in a vintage shop (in the best way), and some sections have funky colourful chairs and coffee tables that make you feel like you’re in your cool artsy Aunts living room.

You can tell the Ruby Molly Bar & Lounge is a place that even locals visit. When I was there there was a large group that had rented a section of the bar for a private event and the bar was super upbeat and lively on a Friday night.
It’s always nice having the option to enjoy a bustling lobby bar (if you’re not too tired from touring around Dublin) knowing you don’t have to go far to your room.
The Rooms
The rooms at Ruby Molly are clean and well laid out. They aren’t very big which I’ve come to realize is a theme among boutique hotels. The rooms definitely optimize the space you do get. There is even a closet and mini desk area.

You’ll notice nods to music with stereo amps in every room. Apparently you are able to plug a guitar in if you’re so inclined (and bring your guitar). Don’t worry, the rooms are soundproof.
I stayed in a traditional basic room but some of my family stayed in a suite on the top floor. They had a patio and more space in their room but honestly, I don’t know if it’s worth the extra cost. It’s nice having a patio and the view was lovely but in Ireland the weather isn’t usually ‘patio weather’ so you might not end up enjoying it much. Depends on what you prefer I guess. For me, part of what makes boutique hotels so cool is all the funky spaces that they have available for guests to hang out it.
After staying in two boutique hotels in Dublin that didn’t have fridges in the rooms, I realized that this is a common thing in Ireland. This definitely took a little getting used to.
Quite often I have dinner leftovers that I like to take back to the hotel to have for lunch the next day. Without a fridge, this wasn’t really an option. One night I asked at the concierge desk if they had somewhere I could put my leftovers and they stored them in the fridge at the bar for me. I don’t think they’d love if everyone started asking for fridge storage but I was happy to enjoy my pizza the next day.
If you need a fridge to store medication or something along those lines, I have heard that some hotels will bring a mini fridge to your room. This should be arranged with the hotel before you arrive.
More Ruby Molly Features & Things To Know
On every couple of floors of the hotel they have coffee and tea stations and ironing boards that you can use.
If your room is on one of the first few floors or you’d like to get a little workout in, the stairs are great for walking. They are clean and safe and not just used for emergency escape route.
The lights turn off within the stairwell if no one is using the stairs so don’t worry, the lights are motion sensored and will come on when you open the door and start walking.
Pro Tip: You need to push the green button by the door at the bottom of the steps to get out of the stairwell.
Breakfast is not included. You can purchase the buffet breakfast for 20 Euros. I’m always a little surprised that nothing is included because these aren’t particularly cheap hotel stays.
All in all I enjoyed my stay at the Ruby Molly boutique Hotel in Dublin. The main things that stood out were the lobby bar and lounge, the library area for getting a little work done and the location of the hotel. It was the perfect starting point for some local Dublin tours.
