Harbour Hopper Tour

Once you make your way to Halifax downtown and the waterfront, you’ll start to see the Harbour Hopper amphibious cars either in the water or driving the downtown core.

It’s a fun way to see the city and a different way to explore both on and off the water. Kids would find this car that’s also a boat pretty cool.

Georges Island Local Halifax Tour

Once you start exploring the Halifax waterfront, you’ll see Georges Island. If you love learning about the history of a city, I definitely recommend booking the Georges Island local tour in Halifax. This tour is nice because you take a ferry to Georges Island so you get to be out on the water and see the view of the Halifax waterfront.

There is a short guided tour of the underground tunnels on Georges Island so make sure you check that out (they didn’t mention that when we arrived on the island but I had read about it beforehand). In my opinion, it was the best part of visiting Georges Island because you get to go in the tunnels, ask questions, and really get a feel for the history.

Pro tip: Once you arrive on Georges Island, I recommend heading to the top of the hill where they have the tunnel tours first. You can check on the time of the next tunnel tour so you don’t miss it or have any issues catching the ferry back.

Tall Ship Silva Sailing Tour

If you’re looking to get out on the water, especially around sunset, the Tall Ship Silva sailing tour is a great option.

Some of these tours even have live music on the boat so you can really settle into a great evening aboard this unique sail boat. They even let you help raise the sails!

Halifax Food Tours

There are a few different Halifax food tours to choose from including a walking tour where you learn about the history of Halifax and the local food scene. This is a great way to try things you might not normally order at a restaurant. Think oysters, lobsters, and donairs (which Halifax is known for).

There are also full day wine and lobster tours you can book. This is great if you’re looking for a day trip where you visit other parts of Nova Scotia.

Hop On-Hop Off Tours

If you’d prefer the option to explore Halifax at your own pace, the hop on-hop off bus tour is a great option. These pink vintage style double decker buses are perfect if you want to see a lot of the city without having to walk everywhere.

Peggy’s Cove & Lunenburg Day Trips

There are lots of tours to choose from if you’d like to explore some popular towns in and around Halifax, especially Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg. Most tours will pick you up in Halifax and drive you to these locations. This is a great option if you don’t want to rent a car or worry about traffic, directions, and parking. Some tours to Peggy’s Cove from Halifax are quick 3.5 hour tours, while others can be full day tours. It’s nice to have these options depending on how much time you have.

Halifax Tiki Boat Tours

If you’ve been on the Halifax waterfront, you’ve likely seen the Halifax Tiki Boat Tours. You can’t really miss them because the boat has been transformed into a fun Tiki Bar. These tours are especially great for bachelorette parties and groups. You can pre-order pizza, a charcuterie board, or lobster rolls to enjoy on the water, or purchase some of their snacks while you’re on the boat and you have a full bar for drinks.
